Nancy Sutton (Brown) Cummings Nancy Sutton (Brown) Cummings, 90, of The Greens at Hanover, died on March 3, 2024 after a brief illness.

Nancy was born in Concord on July 26, 1933, the daughter of Farwell and Mary Elizabeth (Lake) Brown. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1951. She attended Pembroke College before transferring to Colby Junior College, now Colby-Sawyer, graduating in 1954. On September 18, 1954, she married Richard Haven Cummings of Lebanon and moved to Rip Road in Hanover, where they devotedly raised their three children. In 1993, they moved to West Lebanon before returning to Hanover in 2014.

Nancy was involved in many community activities including the Hanover Choral Society, the Colby-Sawyer Alumnae Council, and chairing the Christmas Mystery, which she chaired. For over twenty years, she volunteered at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital gift shop, formerly called the Pink Smock.

As a couple, Nancy and Dick enjoyed travel, especially to visit their daughters living in Germany, the Netherlands, and England and their son in Florida. They loved their annual September visits to Maine’s Ogunquit Beach. By far, Nancy’s favorite place in the world was her family cottage on Newfound Lake.

Nancy was an avid reader, and a lover of flowers, birds, music, puzzles, the Royal Family, the Red Sox, and the New York Giants. She also enjoyed many afternoons watching figure skating and gymnastics.

She was predeceased by her sister Judith Farwell (Brown) Wilbur. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard Haven Cummings; daughter Eleanor (Cummings) Bowe and husband Gerald Bowe of Oakland, CA and Bridgewater, NH; son Richard F. Cummings of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter Andrea (Cummings) Charron and husband William Charron of Manchester, NH; grandchildren Stephanie Bowe Ullman & husband Adam Ullman, Gretchen (Bowe) Tornabene & husband Stephen Tornabene, Ashley (Charron) Mazurier & husband Luc Mazurier, and Zachary Charron; great grandchildren Grant and Vivienne Ullman; Graham, Ross, and William Tornabene; and Magnus Mazurier; and seven nieces and nephews.

There will be a service on Friday, March 8th at 9:45am in the Chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newfound Lake Region Association: https://newfoundlake.org/
